Blackberries like to be well rooted, so dig a shallow trench, about 20 cm (8″) to plant them in.
Enjoys full sun. pH 6.0-7.0.
Japanese beetles. Remove by hand and destroy. If birds become problematic, you can cover your canes with netting until berries are harvested.
Planting may be done in late fall, however, it should be delayed until early spring in very cold areas.
Add compost before planting. Blackberries will thrive in mulched soil around their base to prevent weeds.
