Strawberry – Jewel
This mid-season variety (bearing fruit in June) grows large berries with excellent texture & taste. Can bear fruit only 1 year after planting! This variety is used primarily for eating fresh or freezing. The plants can grow up to 8” tall and 1’5” wide and are a great option for container growth (practical for city-dwellers with limited space!). These will need a full-sun exposure and a well-watered soil with good drainage. Small white flowers bloom in the spring.
This plant is self-pollinating and does not require a partner to produce flowers or fruit. However, there are many plants from different species which will encourage a higher production of fruit! Read more here: https://insteading.com/blog/companion-planting-for-strawberries/
