Italian Prune Plum
Italian prunes can be kept as easily-manageable dwarf trees (around 10′-12′ in height) if pruned carefully. Self-fertile and extremely winter hardy, their fruit is versatile and can be eaten fresh, canned or are excellent dried. Italian prune plum trees mature approximately 15 days prior to Italian prune trees, making them a good choice for regions prone to early frost that may damage ripening fruit. These trees are 2 years old but prune trees – just as plum trees – bear fruit only after five years of planting.
Available only as of approximately mid-May.
