Plant seed potatoes one per square, eye side up.
Plant in a 10 cm (4″) deep trench.
Potatoes thrive in acidic, well-drained, loose soil.
Sprouts from seed potatoes should emerge in 2 to 4 weeks, depending on soil temperature.
Aphids, flea beetles, leaf hoppers, blight, potato scab
Plant as soon as soil can be worked, but some crops could be ruined by a frost.
Potatoes need consistent moisture, so water regularly when tubers start to form. Hilling should be done before the potato plants bloom, when the plant is about 15 cm (6″) tall. Hoe the dirt up around the base of the plant in order to cover the root as well as to support the plant.
